Begin Oktober waren we een weekend op het altijd mooie Texel tijdens het blues weekend. We kochten online een kaartje voor de veerboot en zo reden we vrijdag in 2,5 uur naar Texel waar we verbleven in hotel de Lindeboom in hartje Den Burg. Tijdens de herfst is er nog genoeg te doen op Texel alleen was het weer niet zo veel belovend dit weekend maar het leek niemand te deren de veerboot was na genoeg uitverkocht het hotel volgeboekt en de bier tap maakte middags al overuren. Dit beloofde een gezellig weekend te worden.
Hotel de Lindeboom heeft 49 kamers en een rijke historie, een vleugje nostalgie en veel comfort. De kamers zijn ruim opgezet en onze kamer had een ruime zithoek met bankstel en Espresso. De kamers zijn vrijwel geluid dicht zodat ook tijdens een festival je kan gaan slapen wanneer je wilt. De Lindeboom is een driesterren hotel in hartje Den Burg, waar gastvrijheid een lange traditie kent. Het pand uit 1891 combineert een authentieke sfeer met moderne faciliteiten en beschikt over 2 restaurants het Schoutenhuys en de Brasserie. Vrijdag avond genoten we van het diner in de Brasserie het eten werd vlot geserveerd onder het genot van een Texels biertje. De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding was goed en onze borden waren rijk gevuld zodanig dat we het toetje oversloegen. Zaterdag gingen we naar het Schoutenhuys om de Gerechies te proberen we hadden er zin in. Een avond samen eten en genieten van heerlijke minigerechten en op de achtergrond klonken al de klanken van de blues, dat is de sfeer die Het Schoutenhuys met de gerechies oproept. Elk gerecht is anders en verrassend, maar kwaliteit, smaak en originaliteit voeren bij ieder gerecht de boventoon.
Texel blues Maar liefst drie dagen Texel Blues Festival in bijna alle horecazaken in Den Burg tijdens de 32e editie van de Texleblues. Drie avonden met meer dan 30 nationale en internationale blues artiesten op 14 locaties. Iets waar je echt een keer bij geweest moet zijn om die unieke eiland blues sfeer te proeven. Het festival opende op vrijdagavond met Erja Lyytinen uit Finland, de aftrap voor een lang weekend vol blues. Zaterdag was Aynsley Lister uit Engeland de hoofdact. Aynsley wordt gezien als een van de beste gitaristen in de wereld en dat hebben we gemerkt wat kan die man spelen. Tijdens het blues festival kan je met je kaartje van kroeg naar kroeg waar veel verschillende bandjes aan het spelen zijn met een geweldige sfeer en veel Texels bier.
Den Burg je zult verrast zijn om te ontdekken dat er op een eiland als Texel zoveel kwaliteitswinkels zijn. Of u nu op zoek bent naar nieuwe kleding, woonaccessoires of een goed boek, in Den Burg kan je heerlijk shoppen. In Texels 'hoofdstad' Den Burg vind je de meeste winkels, van kleine winkeltjes tot internationale ketens en elke maandagochtend is er een gezellige markt in het centrum van Den Burg
Uitwaaien tijdens de herfst ondanks dat het bijna het hele weekend miezerde van de regen hebben we toch nog een strandwandeling gedaan toen het even droog was en geluncht in een van de strandtenten. Stevig wandelen op het strand en daarna bij een strandpaviljoen opwarmen rond de open haard, heerlijk! I In de ochtend reden we nog naar het bos voor een wandeling en om te genieten van de herfst kleuren in het nationaal park Duinen van Texel.
Het hele jaar door biedt de Texelse natuur volop mogelijkheden om te genieten en lekker tot rust te komen. Niet voor niets heeft een groot deel van het eiland de beschermde status nationaal park: het hele duingebied van de Hors tot aan de vuurtoren valt onder Nationaal Park Duinen van Texel. In de herfst is de natuur de moeite waard en zelfs in de winter is het heerlijk om lekker uit te waaien op het Texelse strand en te genieten van de woeste golven die over het strand rollen en de vele vogels die speurend rondvliegen op zoek naar voedsel Het Texelse bos kleurt prachtig en er zijn tientallen soorten paddenstoelen te zien. Een lange strandwandeling gevolgd door een warme kop thee of chocolademelk bij het strandpaviljoen is altijd heerlijk. Of maak een vogelexcursie om de vele trekvogels te zien die nu op Texel zijn.
Molen het Noorden Het Noorden is een poldermolen ten noorden van Oosterend op het eiland Texel. Bij inpoldering van de noordoostelijke gebieden van het eiland Texel bleek in 1878 een grote molen nodig om het gebied te bemalen. De molen raakte in de jaren zestig van de twintigste eeuw buiten bedrijf en werd in 1970 eigendom van de Vereniging De Hollandsche Molen die enkele jaren later een restauratie liet uitvoeren. Later werden twee van de drie schroefpompen ook weer maalvaardig gemaakt. Toen we in het voorjaar op Texel waren stond de molen nog helemaal in de steigers tijdens de restauratie. Nu is de hele molen voorzien van een mooie nieuwe rietlaag.
Breath some fresh air at Texel during the fall
At the beginning of October, we were a weekend on the always beautiful Texel during the blues weekend. We bought a ticket online for the ferry and so we drove Friday in 2.5 hours to Texel where we stayed at Hotel de Lindeboom in the heart of Den Burg. During the fall there is still plenty to do on Texel only the weather was not so promising this weekend but it didn't seem to bother anyone the ferry was fully booked , the hotel sold out and the beer tap was already working overtime in the afternoon. This promised to be a fun weekend at the Island of Texel.
Hotel de Lindeboom has 49 rooms and a rich history, a touch of nostalgia and a lot of comforts. The rooms are spacious and our room had a sitting area with a sofa and Espresso. The rooms are almost soundproof so during a festival you can go to sleep whenever you want.
De Lindeboom is a three-star hotel in the heart of Den Burg, where hospitality has a long tradition. The building from 1891 combines an authentic atmosphere with modern facilities and has 2 restaurants, the Schoutenhuys, and the Brasserie. Friday evening we enjoyed dinner at the Brasserie the food was quickly served while enjoying a Texel beer. The price-quality ratio was good and our plates were well filled in such a way that we skipped the dessert. Saturday we went to the Schoutenhuys to try the Gerechies( small dishes), we were looking forward to it. An evening eating together and enjoying delicious mini dishes and in the background the sounds of the blues that is the atmosphere that Het Schoutenhuys evokes with the dishes. Every dish is different and surprising, but quality, taste, and originality predominate in every dish.
Texel blues No less than three days of the Texel Blues Festival in almost all bars establishments in Den Burg during this 32nd edition of the Texel Blues. Three evenings with more than 30 national and international blues artists at 14 locations. Something you really should have been once to taste that unique island blues atmosphere. The festival opened the Friday evening with Erja Lyytinen of Finland, to kick off a long weekend of blues. On Saturday, Aynsley Lister from England was the main act. Aynsley is seen as one of the best guitarists in the world and we have noticed what that man can play. During the blues festival, you can take your ticket from pub to pub where many different bands are playing with a great atmosphere everywhere.
Den Burg, you will be surprised to discover that there are so many quality stores on an island like Texel. Whether you are looking for new clothing, home accessories or a good book, you can go shopping in Den Burg. In Texel's 'capital' Den Burg you will find most shops, from small shops to international chains and every Monday morning there is a pleasant market in the center of Den Burg
Get a breath of fresh air during the fall even though it rained almost the entire weekend we still did a walk on the beach when it was dry and had lunch in one of the beach tents. Walking on the beach and then warming up around a fireplace at a beach pavilion, lovely!
In the morning we drove to the forest for a walk and enjoy the fall colors in the Duinen van Texel national park. Throughout the year, Texel nature offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy and relax. It's not for nothing that a large part of the island has the protected national park status: the entire dune area from the Hors to the lighthouse falls under the National Park Dunes of Texel. Even in winter it is wonderful breezy on the Texel beach and enjoys the wild waves rolling over the beach and the many birds which flying around looking for food. The Texel forest colors beautifully and there are dozens of types of mushrooms. A long beach walk followed by a hot cup of tea or chocolate at the beach pavilion is always delicious. Or take a bird excursion to see the many migratory birds that are now on Texel
Molen Het Noorden The North is a polder mill north of Oosterend on the island of Texel. In 1878, a large mill was needed to drain the area to the northeast of the island of Texel. The mill fell out of operation in the sixties of the twentieth century and became the property of the De Hollandsche Molen Association in 1970, which commissioned a restoration a few years later. Two of the three screw pumps were later made grind again. When we were on Texel in the spring, the mill was completely under construction during the restoration. Now the entire mill has a nice new reed layer.
