A visit to Koh Hong is like stepping into a postcard. The island is small, but the pristine white sand and turquoise waters make it a perfect day trip.
A Magical Day at Koh Hong: The Hidden Jewel of Krabi
One of the most unforgettable moments of my Krabi adventure came during a day trip to Koh Hong, an island that truly lives up to its name, which means “Room Island” in Thai. I had heard whispers about its breathtaking lagoon, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer beauty of the place.
We set off early from Ao Nang, the boat speeding through the calm waters of the Andaman Sea. As we approached Koh Hong, the island emerged like something out of a dream—towering limestone cliffs rising from the turquoise sea, surrounded by lush greenery. The water was so clear and still, it mirrored the sky above, creating a surreal, almost otherworldly scene. we arrived at the lagoon’s heart—an enclosed, crystal-clear pool surrounded by towering cliffs on all sides. I couldn’t help but gasp at the sight. It felt like we had just stepped into a hidden paradise, untouched and secluded. We swam in the warm, inviting waters, the only sounds being the occasional splash and the distant call of seabirds. The lagoon was a peaceful sanctuary, and for a moment, it felt as though time had stood still.
Later, we ventured to the beach, where soft white sand stretched out before us. I spent some time just sitting there, soaking in the tranquility, watching the changing colors of the sea and sky as the day passed. The entire island felt like a well-kept secret, free from the crowds and noise of more popular destinations.
Before leaving, we took a short hike to a viewpoint on the island’s cliffs. The climb was a bit challenging but completely worth it. From the top, we had panoramic views of Koh Hong, with its jungle-covered hills and the sparkling lagoon below. The sight was so breathtaking that it left me speechless, a perfect end to an unforgettable day.
As we made our way back to Ao Nang, Koh Hong stayed with me—its peaceful beauty and untouched nature a reminder of the magic Krabi holds. For anyone looking to experience something truly special, Koh Hong is a must-see on your Krabi itinerary. It’s a slice of paradise that will leave you longing to return.
